Talent Search #1- Sewing

...so I've officially begun my talent search...
starting with SEWING

I've never been much of a sewer
I made a quilt with my mom and grandma when I was in
Young Womens
but really, it was them who did all the work...
I think I picked out the fabric.

And well my freshman year of high school I took a
Home and Family class and made a Quillow (Quilt-Pillow)
Quillow- Blanket that folds into a pillow

I finished that successfully
so I guess I've had a little experience with sewing
but I wanted to learn more...

So, back in hawaii my friends and i decided to join the Hawaiian Club so that we could learn to hula and get a feel for the culture. The experince was pretty amazing. We learned a lot and had a blast. But... the experience got a little frustrating when we were told we have to make a "shirt-dress" for our performance in the semesters Culture Night. Key word=MAKE.
I quickly darted through it, sewing the hawaiian print fabric to the bottom of the shirt. By the time I was finished I was so Done I didnt feel like fixing it when I found out that it wasnt sewn high enough on the shirt, making it stretch and hang down below my butt. Making me look like a hawaiian gangsta.

I regretably performed in that hildious thing and once i got home that night disassembled the whole thing, pretty much destroying the bottom of the shirt and salvaging the hawaiian fabric.

I liked the fabric and wanted to make pillows or something out of it. But after looking at it, I realized it probably would make a cute skirt, If made right. So I found one of my skirts I never really wore and used it as a pattern, tearing it apart bit by bit and replicating it with the hawaiian stuff.

(Nike wanted to help) =D

I worked on it all day, finishing after hours and hours of sewing, taking all the stiches out, sewing again, and taking them out again. I found the zipper was the hardest part. But, after all was said and done it turned out pretty good.
(Just add a lae and the outfit's complete) ---->

I had fun completing my first talent project and can't wait for whats to come.

...bestie birthday...

Here's a huge shout out to my bestie... BRITTANY!
Today is her 20th Birthday and what a beautiful day it is.

Since the day we met, Brit has been there for me no matter what. She has to the sweetest person I know. From surviving art class, lifeguarding up our lazy summer days, getting our first taste of adulthood, life is never boring with this chick here.

She has blessed my life in more ways than I can count
Happy Birthday My Dear Friend

...the search is on...

Talent...

I personally don't feel as if I have any talents. Yeah yeah, people say all the time that talents arn't always obvious, that they could be the simple quiet things like compassion, being a good listener, giving advice, etc. Don't get me wrong, those things are SUPER important... most of the times way more important than the obvious stuff but, I lately have been in need of something to do with my hands so... I'm searching for talents.

First I'm making a list of things that sound talent-like, such as cooking, playing the piano/guitar, writing, scrapbooking, etc. Then taking a few days for each I'm going to give it a shot. Hopefully I'll get to the end of the summer learning to love doing new things, finding it exciting, and keeping my mind and hands busy.

That's the plan.

Life is Beautiful

Even in your lowest times you can find beauty. The sparkle of the stars, the dimple with the smile, the brightness of a flower, even the painted surface of a rock. But is the beauty enough to make you want to stay? Make you want to hold on a bit longer and see the rough times through? Does it make you say, "I want to wake up tomorrow morning just to see this again"?
It's the little things in life we miss while in our day to day maze and its the little things that get us through when we hit a dead end.

They aint got Nothin' On You

Nothin' On You- B.o.B ft. Bruno Mars

Most rap songs sing about getting with ladies in the club, cheating on those ladies, livin' the thug life, and growing up in the hood. Don't get me wrong... most of them are super catchy and fun to listen to but they're composed of meaningless ramble. That's probably why I like this song so much.... its sweet. =)

How often do we have guys tell us that there are TONS of beautiful girls out there but 'they aint got nothin on us'? Ladies, if your man tells u that... hold on to that sucker... he's a keeper for sure.
